Chindex leads the foreign-invested healthcare services industry in China. In 1997, Chindex established the model for private healthcare services with the opening of its Beijing United Family Hospital. This Chindex hospital continues to provide the standard of excellence in family and acute care medical services in Beijing. It is the flagship for the development of the Chindex Healthcare Network which will soon include Shanghai United Family Hospital. Chindex has already begun initial development work for the third phase of network development – Guangzhou United Family Hospital.

The unique Chindex Healthcare Network is bringing comprehensive international standard, private healthcare services to China for the first time. The backbone of the Chindex Healthcare Network will be three United Family Hospitals with associated clinics in the three top metropolitan markets of China – Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

In 2002 Chindex anticipates opening the Shunyi Clinic which will operate as a part of BJU. The Shunyi Clinic will be the only outpatient clinic located in the densely populated suburb of Shunyi. As a satellite clinic of BJU, this first concept clinic will provide a solid referral base to BJU and a model for future clinics in the Chindex Healthcare Network.

Chindex anticipates opening SHU in 2003. It will be the second hospital in the Chindex Healthcare Network. It is expected to open with the full range of services currently available at BJU. SHU will continue the expansion of Chindex’s international-standard, patient-centered care in China and firmly establish the United Family Hospital brand as the leader in premium care.

In the early stages of development now, Chindex expects GZU will be established and operational in 2004. The United Family Hospitals that make up the Chindex Healthcare Network will all share a common senior management and resources.
