Chindex leads the foreign-invested
healthcare services industry in China. In 1997, Chindex
established the model for private healthcare services with the
opening of its Beijing United
Family Hospital. This flagship Chindex hospital continues
to provide the standard of excellence in family and acute care
medical services in Beijing.
In October 2004, Chindex
opened Shanghai United Family Hospital,
the second hospital in the Chindex Healthcare Network. With
this hospital Chindex continues the expansion of its international-standard,
patient-centered care in China and firmly establishes the United
Family Hospital brand as the primary provider of healthcare to the
international and private pay local community in China.
Both Beijing United Family
Hospital & Clinics and Shanghai United Family Hospital &
Clinics are complemented by affiliated free standing ambulatory
clinics in each city. These clinics are located in the heavily-expatriate-populated
Shunyi area of Beijing, in the St. Regis Hotel in the heart of Beijing's
diplomatic quarter, and in the Shanghai Racquet Club in Shanghai's
Minhang District. The clinics provide outpatient services in locations
convenient to the homes and offices of the hospitals' patients and
serve as referral bases for the hopitals. The unique Chindex Healthcare
Network is bringing comprehensive international standard, private
healthcare services to China for the first time. Future plans
include the establishment of additional United Family Hospitals
("UFH"s) with associated clinics. Chindex has signed
a Letter of Intent with Xiamen Zhongshan Hospital to establish a
third UFH in the wealthy coastal city of Xiamen and continues to
explore other opportunities to expand its hospital network.
The UFHs that make up the Chindex Healthcare Network will all share
a common senior management and resources.
