- Chindex International, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHDX), an independent American
provider of Western healthcare products and medical services in the
People's Republic of China, today announced the appointment of A.
Kenneth Nilsson as the Company's Chairman of the Board of Directors,
a position previously held by Roberta Lipson, who will continue as
President and CEO. Mr. Nilsson has been an independent member of the
Board since January 1996 and will continue to serve as Chairman on
that basis.
"Ken's
experience and leadership have been invaluable assets to Chindex for
many years now. We have taken this step to further strengthen the
independence of the Board and proactively respond to the sprit of
new standards for corporate governance of public companies," Lipson
said.
Mr.
Nilsson also serves as Chairman of the Company's Audit Committee.
He formerly served as President of Cooper Laboratories, Inc.; President
of Cooper Lasersonics, Inc.; Managing Director of Pfizer Taito Ltd.;
President of Max Factor, Japan; and Chairman of the Monterey Institute
of International Studies . Mr. Nilsson received a B.A. degree from
the University of Southern California and an M.A. degree from the
University of California .
