Chindex United Family Hospitals and Clinics Launches First-Ever PPO Health Insurance Plan in China Product Designed for Local Chinese Market

BETHESDA, MARYLAND - September 28, 2006 - Chindex International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHDX), an independent American provider of Western healthcare services and products in the People's Republic of China announced the launch of the first ever premium service commercial health insurance product for Chinese nationals in China by its Healthcare Services division which operates the Company's United Family Hospital (UFH) network of private healthcare facilities.

The program was developed in conjunction with the FESCO IB Insurance Brokerage Company Ltd (FESCO IB), the insurance brokerage arm of the well-known Chinese company, FESCO (Foreign Enterprise Service Corporation). The product is approved by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, with Chinese currency settlement in mainland China. It provides coverage worldwide. Chindex and FESCO IB will jointly market the product initially to targeted market segments in Beijing and Shanghai.

The plan is the first PPO (preferred provider organization) health insurance plan in China. The United Family Hospitals & Clinics network, with its five locations in Beijing and Shanghai, is the preferred medical service provider for the plan.
