In his position, Mr. Goodwin manages the company’s sale of equipment to China as well as undertakes a broad range of legal and advisory responsibilities, including all legal issues related to the establishment of Beijing United Family Hospital. He has also managed the company’s successful efforts to obtain a “soft” loan from the U.S. Export-Import Bank for the sale of equipment to China, and has also managed the company’s Congressional relations initiatives. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Goodwin’s career included the private practice of law in Washington, D.C. representing companies engaged in international business, and ten years in several senior legal positions in the U.S. Government, where he handled matters ranging from the drafting of international trade statutes to representing the U.S. Government in international negotiations. Mr. Goodwin is a past Chairman of the Legal Committee of the U.S. China Business Council, serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland-China Business Council, has testified before the U.S. Congress on Chinese legal developments and has written numerous professional articles on the subject. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center where he served as Editor-in Chief of the school’s international law journal. Mr. Goodwin is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland where he teaches graduate courses on International Business Law and The International Business Environment.
